GWI is comprised of Dr. Mark King, support staff and specialized associates. Dr. King, the Principal and driving force behind GWI , is dedicated to providing authentic groundwater and remediation expertise.
Mark’s career has followed a pathway of increasing technical specialization. As a project manager, he supervised all phases of site decommissioning. He applied innovative remediation technologies for applications such as: in situ bioremediation, removal of LNAPL and DNAPL, ex situ treatment of contaminated soils and passive interception of contaminated groundwater.
This hands-on management experience gives Mark an appreciation for quality control from project initiation to conclusion.

For the past 10 years, Mark has specialized in technical direction and advisory services. In a typical current project, he is a technical advisor to Beazer East Inc., a large U.S. company with a proactive approach to managing their nationwide portfolio of legacy sites.
In a similar recent role, he was scientific advisor for the Technology Demonstration Program at the Sydney Tar Ponds, a major Canadian contaminated site. He is also currently active with large multi-national consulting firms.

Mark’s education is in both the earth sciences and engineering. He received his doctorate from the University of Waterloo where he conducted a large-scale field study of PAHs in groundwater. His master’s research was a field investigation of acid generation and acid mine drainage to groundwater and surface water from sulphide minerals.
From avid student, Dr. King has now become an accomplished teacher. He provides training services including university courses, in-house seminars for regulatory agencies, corporate workshops and short courses. |
